solar supertrees in Singapore
We were googling solar towers for a project R was working on, and came across this vision of the future. It is one of many proposals for blending horticulture and technology in ways that look like story boards for a John Cameron flick, but are actual bids by architects to fulfill calls for new buildings in places like Singapore and Dubai. It makes me want to live a long life just to see some of these fantasies come to fruition. Go here to see more…and let me know what you think.

Not in love with the project you show, but the EDITT towers look like cool way to integrate plant with architecture, and in a way that looks less forced than the solar towers. It’ll be fun to review these images in 50 years. Will we laugh at how wrong they got the future? Or will they be accurate omens?

James~So you clicked on the link, just like I hoped you would. I agree that some of the towers were more appealing, but this struck me as the most dramatic image.

I liked the Solar City faux waterfall in Rio. The rest of them, well lets just say it would take time for them to grow on me. I love the concept of self-sustainability though.

Wow, what an amazing site. I’m not sure if I like the idea of the stackable solar skyscraper or the vertical farm in Singapore better! Both would be a fantastic sight.

Grace~I’m sure any of the concepts would undergo radical changes on the way to reality, but great to see minds at work pushing the envelope.
